Sugar Springs is known a recreational development. Some of the land in Sugar Springs is virtually unchanged from 100 years ago. Gentle flowing roads take you into this remarkable recreational development where there's a gentle balance between natural and manmade. There are about 3,200 total acres of land and about 1,000 acres of water. The two all sports lakes in the complex are Lake Lancelot which is about 250 surface acres of water and lake Lancer which is about 750 acres. There are more than 1400 vacation/retirement homes nestled in over 4,000 acres of unspoiled scenery. The Property Owners Association owns all amenities. An 18 hole, 6,850 yard golf course which is a challenge to pro and duffer alike is one of the key attractions in Sugar Springs. It is located in Highlander Realm on the north side of the complex and is beautifully maintained. The pro shop and cart barn are adjacent to the clubhouse. Golf at Sugar Springs is unhurried and relaxed. Another nine hole golf course opened in 2000 and is adjacent to the complex. This nine hole course is not owned by the Property Owners Association.
The focal point for social and recreational pleasure is in this building. Tennis courts are across the street from the clubhouse next to the Activity Building.
This activity center is located next to the tennis court and POA office building. It is available to members for various activities such as art shows, holiday activities and other special activities, potluck dinners, card playing, crafts, etc. The Property Owners Association meetings are held in this building.
If you are a boater, water skier or fisherman, Sugar Springs is bound to be your home away from home. There are 15 beach clubs, many with bathhouses as well as boat docks and launches that have been placed in the various realms at key points around Lake Lancelot and Lake Lancer's 30 miles of beautiful shoreline. These facilities are for members and their guests.
This building is located next to a "bunny" hill used mostly for sledding and also a small ice skating pond. It is heated and has a large fieldstone fireplace. Showers and toilets are located in the chalet. It is available to all members. The campground that is adjacent contains approximately 34 campsites. This campground is open to the public.
The Sugar Springs airfield is a 3,500 grass airstrip that is located in Highlander Realm north of the golf course. It is located close to the clubhouse and pro shop.
Ownership of all common property is vested in the Sugar Springs Property Owners Association, a non-profit Michigan corporation. Each Sugar Springs property owner in good standing is a voting member. Services and facilities available to property owners are: Community hospitals in both Gladwin and West Branch, Volunteer township fire and ambulance service, Municipal sewer system maintained by the township, Weekly garbage service provided by the township, Law enforcement provided by the county, County maintained asphalt roads, Underground electric, telephone and cable TV, Natural gas
